During each legislative session since 2015, the Massachusetts legislature has introduced an “Act relative to a clean fuel standard.” On January 16, 2025, the Massachusetts Senate introduced S2251 – a bill “relative to a just transition to clean energy” – targeting an 80% CI reduction by 2050. As of this writing, the bill is under consideration in the Joint Committee on Rules as part of Study Order S2774.
